Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 16, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how YardWhiz (“YardWhiz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website (including yardwhiz.com), our lawn diagnosis and planning features, and our mobile applications (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above will change, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, a notice on the website or in the app).

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Services, we may process:

  • Lawn photos. If you upload a photo for diagnosis, the image is sent to our servers to generate your plan. We do not use your photo to build a public profile, sell it, or keep it in a personal “gallery” for you to log back into. The image is processed for that request and transmitted to our AI provider (see Section 4) to produce results. We do not intend to retain lawn photos after processing is complete for routine operation; technical logs or backups maintained by our hosting vendors may exist for a limited time under their own policies.
  • Text you provide. If you describe your lawn in words (instead of or in addition to a photo), that text is sent to our servers and to our AI provider to generate guidance.
  • Email address. If you sign up for updates, join a waitlist, request app access, ask us to email your results, or contact us, we collect the email address you provide (and related signup metadata such as which platform you selected, where applicable).
  • Usage and device data. We use analytics and product analytics tools that may collect identifiers, events (such as button clicks or feature usage), approximate location derived from IP, device type, browser, and similar diagnostic data to understand how the Services are used and to improve them.
  • Advertising and measurement. Where we use Google Ads or similar services, those partners may collect or receive information as described in their policies to measure ad performance and conversions.
  • Support communications. If you email or message us, we retain those messages and our replies as needed to help you and operate the business.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide lawn guidance, diagnoses, plans, and related features;
  • Send transactional or requested emails (for example, your scan results);
  • Operate waitlists, betas, and notify you about products you asked to hear about;
  • Maintain security, debug issues, and prevent abuse;
  • Understand usage and improve the Services;
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms.

4. Service providers and third parties

We use trusted third parties to host and operate the Services. They process data on our behalf and under contractual obligations. These may include, depending on the feature you use:

  • OpenAI (or similar AI providers) — to process photos and text and generate lawn guidance. Their use of API inputs and outputs is governed by their terms and privacy policy.
  • Supabase — to store email addresses and related records for signups and waitlists where you submit them through our forms.
  • Resend (or similar email delivery services) — to send emails you request, such as emailed scan results.
  • PostHog — product analytics to understand feature usage.
  • Google — Google Analytics and Google Ads tags on our website for measurement and advertising.
  • Hosting and infrastructure (for example, Vercel or comparable platforms) — to run our site and APIs, which involves processing requests and standard server logs.

Product links may point to retailers (for example, Amazon). If you leave our Services to shop, those sites have their own privacy policies. Where we participate in affiliate programs, we may receive aggregate reporting from partners; we do not control their sites.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies for analytics, advertising, and to remember preferences where applicable. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may limit parts of the Services.

6. Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate legal bases such as: performance of a contract (providing the Services you request); legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement, and marketing where allowed); and consent where required (for example, certain cookies or marketing). You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

7. Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law. Email addresses submitted to waitlists or signups are kept until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them for that program. Server and analytics data may be retained in aggregated or pseudonymous form.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain sales or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising (California). To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We will verify your request as required by law.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those emails, where applicable.

11. International transfers

We are based in the United States and may process information in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate. If we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

12. Apple App Store and mobile app

If you download YardWhiz from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect certain usage and payment-related information as described in Apple’s privacy policy. Our collection through the app is described in this policy and should align with the privacy “nutrition label” and App Tracking Transparency disclosures you see in the App Store listing. If the app requests permission (for example, for the camera, photo library, or notifications), we use that access only as disclosed at the time of the request and in this policy.
